What is the most suitable perfume for sensitive skin?
shei28 asked:
My usual perfume brands are Oscar Dela Renta and CK Escape and I have been using them for so long. Recently, I noticed that when they come in contact with my skin, I develop rashes. I love both scents, so could anyone offer suggestions on what I should do? I think I’ve developed an allergic reaction.

I don’t know about perfumes, but if you’re looking for deodorants, look for ones that are labelled ‘hypoallergenic’. Also, Dove’s deodorant smells nice and is good on sensitive skin. Hope that helps!

Essential oils. You’ll have to make up your own combination, but if you do it right it will smell awesome without all the nasty chemicals they put in the commercial stuff.

While I can only speak from personal observation and anecdote, a lot of store brand perfumes are loaded with synthetic ingredients. I’ve heard that certain synthetics, which people are prone to be allergic to, are used in a wide range of scents, while natural ingredients are easier to identify.
In other words, you might be allergic to Polyphenozombiejuice which is used in Britney and Tina and Julia, and all sorts of Star Scents, but when it comes to natural products, with natural essential oils, it’s easier to track because you might be allergic to Pine or Sandalwood or Lilac.
Of course, this doesn’t really help you duplicate those scents, as you’d have to find some one who has spent a lot of time using natural oils to duplicate their synthetic scents, and it will probably cost a lot more to boot.
My advice might be to explore similar scents at a craft boutique or other merchant that sells essential oils. A few friends and I have a website we’ve purchased from before, and they have pretty active forums that you might be able to ask more advice from. I won’t use the URL, since I don’t want to be seen as “advertising” for them. But if you want, look for the forums of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (try a Google search.)
