How can i take perfume on an airplane without it leaking?

Jan-Willem W asked:

The last time I took a perfume with me, it had leaked about half of the contents, probably due to pressure differences. However, i’m not sure anymore if I stored it in my handluggage of in my checked in luggage. I wonder if there’s a way to take perfume with you without it leaking (either in check-in- or handluggage or maybe screwing off the sprayer a bit to allow air to enter more easily?)

Thanks.

You can take perfume on your carry-on as long as you have within the liquid measurements range and in a ziploc bag.
Check with the airline you are travelling with to make sure of their specifications.
But it should be fine on your carry-on.

Use your checked baggage since it will be over the limit for liquids in carry-on baggage.

Melt some candle wax in a double-boiler – being very careful not to get the melted wax by the flame. Dip the top of the perfume into the melted wax so it covers the seal.

When you get to your destination, run the perfume top under very hot water from the tap and the wax will melt off.

Put the perfume in your checked baggage in a zip lock bag (two if you want extra protection). The contents shouldn’t leak too badly depending on where in you luggage the bottle is located and its orientation. We’ve travel many times with liquids in our suit cases and we’ve never had a problem of leakage.

Most likely the loss of perfume was the handling your luggage received before and after the flight OR the ramp guys went into your luggage and were playing with the perfume. Its a nasty little secret of the airline business
