How can I get the smell of cologne out of my carpet?

I broke a bottle of cologne on the carpet and it reeks in there now! I have tried vinegar, and baking soda, but nothing has worked! Help please!

   you will have to soak the area of the carpet with a lot of water to dilute the cologne then use a shop vac to remove the fragrant water and sptritz the area with fabreeze a couple times

   cologne is oil based. and oil soaks in.

   This will require a repeated application of hot water and a dishsoap like Dawn with degreasers in it. do not over soak. If you do, you will simply provide the means for the oils to move to the fibers next to it and thus spread the problem.

   You can also consider removing a piece of carpet from a closet to use to replace the carpet oiled with cologne.

   Kitty litter is another option. Remember this is an existing stain and nothing is going to be an immediate solution to the odor.

   Under carpet is a pad, the pad is rubber and it has also soaked up the cologne. So it is possible to get the carpet clean without getting the pad clean.

   vinegar is another word for acetic acid.
   Baking soda does not soak up oil.

   water and oil do not mix which is why water will not clean up oil.

   sit on the floor with a steam iron set on low and a roll of paper towels. just keep ironing over the spill with a piece of paper towel on top- change the towel often, being careful not to scorch or melt the carpet.
